About Me

Olivia-Rose Kaur Labana is a British photographer based in Berkshire, Wokingham region. Currently undertaking an MFA Photography degree at UCA Farnham. She explores analogue as her medium to capture themes such as grief, home, family, identity and culture. Her current project is a form of understanding one’s grief, and how creative forms can be used to process trauma and loss. She sought to observe how a family album is viewed after the death of a loved one. The techniques are used as a therapeutic process of understanding trauma and healing one’s mind.

Her project delves into the sensitive topic of grief, employing the innovative handcrafting technique as a therapeutic process to navigate the emotional landscape of loss. By integrating weaving into my photographic practice, she aims to highlight the tactile and physical aspects of the medium, effectively conveying the intricacies and layered emotions associated with the grieving process. As a contemporary photographer, Olivia aims to demonstrate the vast potential of techniques like weaving, challenging traditional boundaries and inspiring innovation in the field.
